Ultrasound and X-ray for Pets

Contact our team to schedule your pet's next diagnostic appointment.

Ultrasounds and radiographs (X-rays) are diagnostic tools used for diagnosing patients. These procedures are pain-free, drug-free, and non-invasive, making them completely safe for your pet. At Wellesley Animal Hospital, we use an external facility to provide these services, so our patients will need an appointment to use them. Schedule an appointment with us at 416-966-1830.

What are ultrasounds and X-rays?

Ultrasounds use soundwaves to allow us to look inside your pet's body to help us diagnose their medical issue. Ultrasounds are often a better alternative to radiographs because they allow us to clearly see your pet's vital organs.

During X-rays, a beam passes through your pet's body, and images are captured as the light penetrates their internal structures. A specialist then analyzes the image on a high-resolution screen.

When are they necessary?

Imaging diagnostics are recommended when your pet is showing signs of illness. We use ultrasounds to check the liver, heart, kidneys, gallbladder, and bladder. Ultrasounds are also used to detect and monitor tumours, pregnancies, and cysts. X-rays examine your pet's heart, gastrointestinal tract, bones, and respiratory tract.
